Managing time before it manages you

Recently after giving birth to my second child, I understood how drastically my life can change!

Time management is the key to a successful juggle between your own personal and  professional goals, your husband, your children, your family (we are Lebanese so family is a vital player) … but most importantly YOU!

I believe that to be a mother it is our duty, yet rather our privilege to love, care, teach and mold our children and play a vital role in people they will grow up to be… If it only was this simple!

The day is still made up of 24 hours – the week is still made up of 7 days – and yet I still feel some days that I didn’t accomplish all the goals I set out to do for that day.

Finding myself guilty for postponing, guilty for not having the energy, guilty for so many things … then one day I chose to STOP THE GUILT TRIP!

I think as moms we are our greatest critics! And we lack, at times, the support system or community to give us the self-confidence and energy to continue.

Each mom understands the needs of her child more than any other personacknowledge that statement moms!

Yet I still find myself becoming upset or hurt when someone criticizes my parenting… I make an effort to listen, use any of the information given… but then I find myself on that horrible guilt trip again…

So how do we get of this trip?

How do we acknowledge constructive criticism and benefit from what is said and actually enjoy being a mother?

1- Acceptance –  to be able to accept that nothing is perfect is key. Giving any task your best and accepting that this is the best that can be done!

2- Surround yourself with positive people – choose who you want to be with as they will not only drain you from your own positive energy, but also muddling your own time and thoughts with drama you don’t need right now.

3- Organize your time – try to mentally prioritize your goals – and give yourself “relaxing time” – even if its just for 10 minutes a day. But if it helps – write them down so you can stay on top and not forget anything.

4- Take the easy and less complicated routes – bring a part-time helper to aid in some house chores, plan your cooking calendar (use pre-prepared ingredients that can be frozen) – will share more tips on this point in future blogs… find ways to make daily chores easier!

5- Acknowledge that YOU ARE A SUPER MOM! Look in the mirror, say it and believe it! What our body endured, the hormones, weight gain, anxiety that pregnancy brings alone should assure us moms of this!

6- SMILE – just forcing yourself to smile will unconsciously force you to be happy 🙂 Try it now!
