Becoming a parent changes you.
We have heard this so many times in so many ways. But until you become one do you realize how profound that statement is.
You are no longer thinking of yourself but as a collective group. And living in Lebanon during its ups and downs and never ending political scrambles can sometimes bring you down.
I usually don’t watch local television or news as it just brings me down and makes me feel pessimistic.
So unless Dora declares war on Mickey’s Clubhouse – that’s the most political action I would be interested in 🙂
Focusing on staying positive is what is more important to my family and children – what they need. But I think it’s what we all need…
I wanted to watch some trending local shows last night and flipped through 3 of them and after that just regretted it. I know that I can not live in my bubble – but it’s the same thing over and over again…
My bubble was already burst twice in the past as I was unfortunate enough to be part of 2 bombings but fortunate to come out with only the scars as reminders.
The first while drinking my morning coffee in the office and gossiping with my girlfriends about a TV series. (12/12/2005)
And the second while 5 months pregnant with my son at the doctor’s office. (19/09/2007)
So even sitting on the side lines will not keep me and my family safe?
Then what can I do?
We do not live in any democracy rather in a monarchy – as titles are just passed on from generation to generation. One big family business.
Time for change? Definitely!
As a mother what can I do? Everything!
As parents we are building the future. So we can choose what ideologies and principles our children should follow.
Love – Honesty – Empathy
The News broadcasts breed hate and make money when causing controversy.
We need to teach our children and ourselves to look past that and see the big picture.
Hear both sides of the story. And always keep an open mind.
These can be taught in everyday activities – how children play with each other… How they respond when they don’t get their way … Exposing them to different cultures, religions and norms. So many other things! Be creative!
Hopefully when they grow up they can be the change our generation until now is failing at…
Good luck Super moms! Stay positive!
