Polio is back! Protect your children. Protect the Country.

“A mother that protects her child can protect a country”

Profound words to launch this year’s Polio Vaccination drive. (5th National Polio Campaign)

Lebanon is at Risk of an outbreak

Lebanon has been Polio-free for almost 13 years now… and unfortunately this incurable disease has the potential of reaching us again! (there is NO cure for Polio and your child’s only protection is through immunization)

Now, with the unfortunate neighboring war in Syria and the huge numbers of refugees entering Lebanon  – the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) has named 7 countries at HIGH RISK of POLIO OUTBREAK – and Lebanon is one of these 7!

What Is Polio?

Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a crippling and potentially deadly infectious disease. It is caused by the poliovirus. The virus spreads from person to person and can invade an infected person’s brain and spinal cord, causing paralysis (can’t move parts of the body). *( http://www.cdc.gov/polio/about/)

“As a parent we call upon all parents of children from the age of 1 day to 5 years old to have their children given the immunization drops or vaccination.” (MoPH)

Please call your pediatrician or visit one of the many locations that the Ministry of Public Health with the support of UNICEF – are providing free immunization drops – for all children from all nationalities.

What can we do?

As Supermoms, we need to take the responsibility to stop the spread of this incurable disease before it starts.

Make sure our children have received the immunization.

Spread the word to other mothers

In your neighborhood inform, only if you know any, refugees, or families that may not have the ability of being informed of the media campaign, etc to have their children vaccinated.

Make the difference. Protect our children.
