So I saw this shared post while scrolling my Facebook news feed and felt annoyed. Not only by how women and mothers are depicted, but the actual fact that many women were agreeing with it.
Each person is entitled to their own personal opinion, so this is mine:
It is true that becoming a mother changes you. Your entire life is flipped almost 180 degrees, and it may take you time to adjust to this change … but once you adapt, learn to manage your time, find that equilibrium … remember that besides being a Mother you are still a Woman.
Yes, you are no longer selfish and are forced to put everyone else’s needs before yours … But once thinking of everyone else … take the time and think about YOU. If you are happy and content internally is a BIG part of being a more attentive mother and wife. Make the time for your needs.
Don’t stop “dating” your husband. You may not be able to go out every Saturday night like before … but once in a while find that relative or friend to babysit and DRESS UP and GO OUT ON A DATE WITH YOUR HUSBAND. You both need it!
But don’t wait for date night to FEEL PRETTY. If you can’t visit a hairdresser or the beauty salon – once you have a little time treat yourself to a home mani/pedi or change your hair color.
Do-it-yourself beauty products are very easily accessible at all prices from your local supermarket, pharmacy, etc…
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! DON’T FORGET THAT!
After giving birth to my first child, I used to avoid looking in the mirror because I just felt ugly … Your self-confidence maybe down but surround yourself with positive people who help you re-build that confidence…
Carrying a baby for 9 months changes your body. You may never go back to the same figure you were before … but DON’T GIVE UP!
Find time to exercise. Start eating more healthy … this will not only benefit you but your whole family.
Be more active with the kids. Play with them when you go out. Be the example of a healthy and active lifestyle they can follow.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!
YOU ARE SMART!
YOU ARE AMAZING!
DON’T EVER FORGET THAT!
This post was taken from a Facebook page in India with more than 74,000 followers. I do hope that a more educated and accurate awareness campaign is being undertaken there so that women and mothers never forget how special they are –
MOTHERHOOD is a BLESSING and not a death sentence for your WOMANHOOD.
